Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day was today, and Aja asked her great-grandma Leona and me visit her school. We had cookies and orange juice, she showed us her classroom. She also showed us her Valentine box - hers is the biggest - i think she's expecting a lot of Valentines. She even showed me her "boyfriend." She's been talking about him for weeks, but rolling her eyes and denying he was her boyfriend. But today when I asked where he was, she pointed him out to me. Sigh... Can't believe she's in Kindergarten. The principal gave a little speech and told about how we should be glad they're all excited to see us in school, because when they get to middle school, they'll be saying, "Grandma, what are you doing here?" We all laughed, but we knew it was true.

Sarah

On Monday, February 4, Sarah stopped by with the girls. After talking with Kayla for awhile, she came into my room and told me she was done with Eric; the girls were so unhappy with him because he was always yelling at their mom. And he had beat her up one too many times. She said she was going to try to get her stuff out of their house, so she asked if she could leave the girls for a little while so she could go get the stuff before Eric got home. She said if he was there, he would be mad at first, and then would start begging her to come back and try again. So we told her the girls could stay, and she told Aja not to take her shoes off because she was coming right back. But 3 hours later, she still hadn't come back. She called about 4:30 and said she was still at Eric's; he was giving her a hard time, but she wouldn't be much longer. Finally, at about 7, she came back and hurried the girls out so she could get them to Silverton by bedtime.

I found out later after putting the girls to bed, she went back to Eric's house to spend the night. This has happened so many times, I don't know why I was surprised.
