Today is November 13, and the girls are with their dad again, and Sarah called us and asked if she could stay here tonight. She's avoiding her family, I think because she doesn't want them to see her. I don't know if I've told you, but Kayla met my son Miles when she stood up for Sarah and my son Mike. Kayla and Sarah have been friends all their lives. (The whole thing sounds like something out of Jerry Springer, doesn't it?) Kayla doesn't have the heart to turn her away, and actually, as bitter as I feel toward her, I can't turn her away either. She's the mother of my grandaughters, and besides, no woman deserves to be beaten.
And today, a dear friend of ours was killed at work today. He's a welder and a steel beam fell on his head. Twice before, this happened to him, but it always missed him, but today it didn't. Oregon is a no-fault state, so the company can't be sued, but the president and vice-president of the company were there with his wife, so I think she'll be okay financially, but right now, she's in denial.
