Actual Before and Virtual After Pictures

I found a website that will project a I weight loss. Here I am, my actual before picture and my virtual after 50-pound loss picture. Now here's something to motivate me. I'll have to check out if I really look like if - I mean WHEN - I lose 50 pounds!

December 31, 2008 Progress Report

Here I am after losing 6 pounds since starting on Spark. I'm happy that I lost it, especially since it was during the holidays. But I was doing so much yo-yoing, that I sat down and calculated how much I had actually lost and gained. I lost 26 pounds, but gained back 20! I couldn't believe it was that bad. So now I'm going to try to do without wine and salt this month and see if I can do any better. And after 4 days off of wine and salt, I lost 3 more pounds! I really feel hopeful this time. I just hope I can keep it up.

LindaRuth's Excellent Adventure

One of the teams in SparkPeople has issued a challenge to scrap your weight loss. The idea is to take a picture of yourself every month and scrap your weight and how you did that month, why you did that month, and etc. I'm going to try it, I just hope I can make it more than a two-page scrapbook. I usually only last a couple of months on a scrapbook. Sigh...
Here's my first picture (My Before)

SparkPeople

Laneita from BabyBoomers referred me to SparkPeople.com, which is something like WeightWatchers, only FREE. I think it's a great site, although a little overwhelming at first. I've followed it faithfully for 3 days, but GAINED 2 pounds! I don't understand it, I haven't even had any wine. But I know I'm doing the right thing, so I'm not going to give up.

61-year-old Grandma Reflects on Historic Week

45 Years Ago:
-28 August 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

November 4, 2008, Grant Park, Chicago, IL:

"America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves - if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

"This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we cant, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes We Can."
-President-elect Barack Obama

Happy Halloween!

It was a great Halloween! The three kids were adorable. Here they are before going off trick-or-treating. Aja picked a witch's costume because I had told her I had a lot of patterned paper that would be perfect for scrapping witches!

Dylan was such a cute coyboy, look at him going for a quick-draw! He really got into the spirit of the thing.

And Lynzi's dress lit up! You pressed the little red button, and the whole dress would blink and twinkle. It was so darn cute, I wish I could have gotten it to show in the picture.
